Where To Network To Meet Producers & Agents.

If you are trying to break in to the Hollywood scene and are attempting to accidentally, or on purpose, bump in to some key players such as producers; you need to be seen and mingle in areas frequented by the likes of the big wigs in Tinsel Town. Standing in lines surrounding red carpet premiers can get you a glimpse of someone, however, you need to get in smaller, more intimate areas to truly catch a chance to meet up with someone face to face.

In Los Angeles, you should stroll through The Grove outdoor shopping complex as this LA version of a shopping mall tends to draw producers and directors who too need to shop once in a while. Further out, and closer to Hollywood, walking around Rodeo Drive can be another place where you may run in to someone you have been desperate to meet. While you are in the area, dining at outdoor tables along Rodeo Drive, Wilshire Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard can also give you a chance to catch someone as they pass by.

When you start to get tired from traipsing all over town, even hitting Redondo Beach, Venus Beach and the Sanata Monica Pier can also prove beneficial, as those spots too tend to draw some of the rich and famous from the area.

Getting Started in The Industry

Written by admin Comments Off

There are a lot of great industries in Los Angeles from Kitchen Design to gallery owner but if you’ve got your heart set on becoming a star you’ve got to play the part, even when you’re not at an audition. Here are a few tips for beginners:

Maintain your form: Yes, this means your body as well as every other part of your physical representation. Go to the gym (if you desire that look) and keep your hair and makeup done at all times – don’t dress too trendy but don’t wear sweats out, either.

Get a Headshot: You’re going to wince but it’s worth it to pay someone good to take your headshots. Shell out a couple hundred bucks upfront and watch casting directors and even your new manager fawn over what great pictures you’ve got in your portfolio.

Get a Manager: Shop yourself around town to find the best person you can willing to represent you – they shouldn’t take more than a 10 cut of whatever you make and they should come with some clients you’ve heard of before.
